home sweet home
Art of Change, Beirut, Lebanon
In 2020, Art of Change Gallery in Beirut hosted an exhibition by graffiti artist Ali Kadado, also known as Dewone. The exhibition, called Home Sweet Home, focused on the themes of immigration and living abroad, inspired by the struggles faced by many Lebanese people during the country’s economic crisis, revolution, and the Beirut explosion. Dewone’s work reflected the feeling of being displaced and uncertain, something many people were going through at that time.
Using paper airplanes and paper-like effects, Dewone created a simple yet powerful symbol for migration. His art, painted on canvas, combined the innocence of a child’s drawing with the reality of leaving one’s home. Through Home Sweet Home, Dewone invited viewers to think about what it means to search for a new home and identity in a world full of change.
